treadmills, and those who should not use them

so today at work im minding my own business, just relaxing during my few moments of peace- and suddenly chaos strikes in the form of a treadmill.

lets back up for a second and clarify. the treadmill wasnt the chaos, it was a man. chaos in the form of a man. more specifically, though, his feet (combined with a slight weight problem perhaps). this man had apparently never used a treadmill, nor did he take the time to clean his ears enough to hear the thunderous pounds of sneaker on mechanical cardio equipment.

for those of you who dont know, roughly 220lbs of human smashing into an elevated plastic/metal object in a large open space does tend to make a little ruckus. weird.

at first it didnt register. funny noises come and go, accidents happen, whatever. after about a minute, i started to perk up, and look around at what danger was coming my way (survival of the fittest.. which little known fact i was much more fit than this stampede). the noise kept going. and then i saw it. a man, running in place at the same pace. i was instantly angered.

i then looked around to see why no one was telling him to stop. i guess these days, its better to not offend someone who is doing something so ass-backwards- rather than to save everyone else from having to listen to their blatant disregard for proper use and common courtesy.

nothing.

eventually, all good things must come to an end. so the man stopped, as he wasnt in the best shape and obviously could only last so long. but wait! the story isnt over. once he paused, momentarily, he must have told a friend. a friend of equal running ability. so now, the dynamic duo began their journey, a journey to fitness.

as im starting to feel comfortable in my silence again (and by silence i mean strange combinations of miley cyrus and paul wall, aka lets sing about "grillz" yo) the 2 men start running. and the thunder couldnt have been any louder. i thought by this point, someone would speak up. am i the only one looking on in horror? i think i was.

eventually it stopped. but honestly, i was too annoyed to be happy.
