So I just got through speaking to a client about her newfound engagement. I congratulated her, to which she responded "eh, we'll see what happens."
Last I checked, getting engaged means something. To those of you who it doesn't, there's no place for you in this world. There's no reason to make that commitment, or take that step if you don't mean it, or you doubt it, or anything.. If you have any thoughts other than complete excitement, maybe even some nerves as to the fact that life as you know it is suddenly about to change- then don't do it.
Meanwhile, she explains how they knew each other and this and that.. Including that her previous marriage didn't work out, and that he was widowed 4 years ago.
I just don't get. This isn't about lovey dovey crap, really. But what happened to things meaning something. I'd like to think if I found someone and married them, whether they're alive or dead- I'm done with all that. Its me and them. there's no grey area. Otherwise, why bother. What's the point.
I said there's no place for these people in the world, but maybe in todays new "openminded" and "accepting" society there's no place for me.
So in the past few days, I've been getting increasingly more and more frustrated with people. I don't know who started this whole "customer is always right" business, but whoever you are- let me thank you.
To a certain extent, the customer CAN be considered "right" and that should be expected.. But when taken to an extreme (as it is in most every case these days) the customer is an asshole. I don't know how customer service, aka being kind and polite and assuming guilt in a situation to which this third party (in this situation the customer) may not be at fault.. This covers things like accidents and misleading representations, perhaps. It does NOT, however, cover things like having a stick lodged firmly in your ass- causing you to reek havoc on the general population.
Now I get it, you're entitled to your opinion. These employees are here to provide a service, matter of fact they're getting PAID (YES, real money! Usually a whole 7.50 even!). So sure, do whatever you want, its their job. Right?
Wrong.
If you think you have the right to speak freely on these matters, think again. These people are here to maintain a business model, usually retail. A model that you do your best to destroy. Leaving trash and items that you've discarded. If ever questioned, you'll explain that they're supposed to do this and that.. And someone needs to explain you're a child. Grow up.
This goes for you too, people who aren't in a store. Do you think someone needs to be where you want them to be 24/7? You can be late, or unprofessional, or a ____(insert cuss here)___ because you paid? Let's consider what you paid, or the lack there of. Do you think your 20 dollars buys you the right to talk shit and complain, ordering other people around, not applying the rules to yourself all the while? I don't.
so finally i have sorted through the hour or so of mother's day video footage that has been sitting around for a while now. here is a summary of the day, minus when the waiter at CPK sang the "5 dollar foot-long" song when i asked for a table for 5.. dont know exactly where he thought he was (subway maybe?) but i just stared blankly back at him. kudos, sir. enjoy.
